Faculty Positions
PRISM has faculty positions available for investigators with exciting and active research programs that are synergistic with the stated goals of the institute, including proteomics, genomics, and systems-level approaches to disease. Both basic and applied scientists are encouraged to apply. Experience in biomarker discovery, pathology, drug, nanoparticle, and/or gene delivery, nano-chemistry, mass-spectrometry, and pharmacology is desired. Imaging expertise at multiple levels is also highly desired. PRISM promotes an exceptional and highly collaborative research environment with shared state-of-the-art facilities. PRISM is located within the thriving biotech community of San Diego, and many other research institutes (UCSD, Scripps Research Institute, Salk, Burnham) are minutes away. Research Technician
This position will be part of our team in the antibody discovery and protein engineering group, and will be responsible for conducting research in an innovative technology-driven program to identify protein targets and antibodies for immunotherapy of cancer. Requires a BA/BS in biological science. Knowledge and hands-on experience in phage display, hybridoma technology, PCR, recombinant protein expression, Western analysis, and/or ELISA is a plus. Research Associate (Filled Nov. 1st, 2009)
A position is available immediately for a research associate to develop targeted nanoparticles for cancer therapy. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in molecular biology, bacterial cloning, mammalian cell culture, protein expression and protein purification. The position involves contact and work with rodents. A BS/BA in biological sciences and previous knowledge in molecular cloning is required for this position. This is a 6 month contract position. Postdoctoral Position - Proteomics
This position will focus on mining mass spectrometric data for selection of promising protein vascular targets, functional and structural analysis of target candidates, and contribution to the protein expression, purification, and validation pipeline. This position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent with a strong background in bioinformatics and/or mass spectrometry. Experience in use of bioinformatic tools for protein characterization, database design, and a background in molecular or cell biology is essential. Postdoctoral Position – Tumor Biology
Tumor and/or Vascular biologist needed with experience in drug targeting and bioefficacy studies using rat and mouse tumor model systems. Requires PhD or equivalent. This position will focus on new delivery strategies for cancer therapy and in vivo imaging. Experience is helpful in any of the following: angiogenesis, intravital microscopy, biodistribution analysis, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and/or whole body imaging in vivo, including SPECT. Postdoctoral Position – Nanotechnology
This position will focus on developing and optimizing multifunctional nanoparticles for in vivo therapeutic use and molecular imaging. This position requires a PhD or equivalent with strong nanochemistry background, including nanoparticle construction, characterization, and functionalization. Postdoctoral Position – PK/PD
This position will focus on developing and testing the absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, and toxicity of novel therapeutics, including nanoparticles and biologicals, for pre-clinical studies. This position requires a PhD or equivalent in biostatistics, pharmaceutical science, physiology or similar field. A strong background in mathematics, statistical analysis, medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, chemistry/biochemistry, cell biology and analytical chemistry is desired. Experience in oncology and in vivo imaging is a plus, but successful applicants can expect to be trained in laboratory techniques including in vivo imaging and cellular biology. Science Writer
This position will be responsible writing and editing protocols, grants, annual reports, manuscripts, review articles, posters, and abstracts for a broad range of research topics. A PhD or equivalent in a biomedical field is required. Successful applicants must be able to communicate complex ideas to both a technical and lay audience in a concise manner. Strong editorial and formatting skills; proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and online medical databases; and the ability to prioritize tasks and deliver quality results in a fast-paced environment are also required.
